How do I change my email address or update my profile?

Make sure you are logged in then click on your Profile icon and click 'Settings' then 'Change email address'. Once you click 'Save' a confirmation email will be sent to this new email address and you can still use your original password. 
        
        You can also update other elements of your profile by editing them and clicking 'Save'

Do I need to create a new account for each of my family members?

No. You only need one account and using that you can add as many members as you like, be they friends or family. 
        
        The benefit of this is that you don't need to enter their gender and date of birth each time you login.

If you are looking for information on a particular topic around measurements, oftentimes the best advice comes from others in a similar situation to you. You can use the search function to find if your question has already been answered in our community forum.
        
        However! We are new so until our forum is ready with a big enough community, please feel free to ask us directly on our contact page or live chat and we'll endeavour to help you out.

Can I use the advice and information on this site like a doctor's advice?

All the content on this site where not fully sourced back to the originating authority is for informational purposes only. It should not be considered to be a medically informed or a specific diagnosis or treatment plan for any individual situation. Please visit a doctor for that. Again, LifeMeasure is a site for informational purposes only and any health-related information or medical opinion needs to be cross-referenced with medical professionals who know your situation.

Can I subscribe to updates and notifications by email?

When you sign up you can opt-in to receive monthly email notifications which are mainly reminders to measure up your family members and log the measurements to track growth trends. 
        
        A caveat: as we're still new, we haven't set this up yet so feel free to opt-in but you won't get anything for a little while.
        
        You can unsubscribe from these at any time, with ONE click.

Question 7

Should I be worried that I can be "tracked down" if I use my full name?

Accepted Answer

When signing up you have the option to use your Facebook or Google account which means your ability to be tracked down depends on your security settings within those platforms.
        
        If you create an account directly with NettleWorth, we only require your email address as a username and you can set your "screen name" to whatever you like. 
        
        In any case, NettleWorth is built securely on a secure socket protocol (https) and we have all of the appropriate certificates in place to ensure that your information is safe.
        
        However, one thing to note is that we do store your measurement data anonymously in "age buckets" so that we can eventually utilise a large volume of data and present a NettleWorth dataset for our users to compare against (along with scientific research data). We also give that data to the research community, on request.

Question 8

You call this a community but where are your members?

Good question. So far we haven't introduced our member base to one another. We want to get our baseline charts working perfectly first of all. Once this is done we will be adding more data sources including ethnicity and country-specific data and concurrently we are adding the ability for our members to ask and answer questions in our forum. Each chart will have its own thread that is part of the forum so once its up, please help out as early-adopters of NettleWorth!

I forgot my screen name and/or password. What should I do?

You can use your email address to login and if you forgot your password then click on 'forgot password'. You will be prompted to enter your email address and you'll then receive an email from NettleWorth that has a link to a page where you can reset your password. This link will be valid for 24 hours.

Otherwise you can login using your Google or Facebook accounts
        
        Hint: If you don't share your computer, it can remember your email and password for you and should log in automatically.

Do you spam or sell your email list for others to spam?

Never - and we are dismayed that other websites do that. Don't people have better things to do with themselves?
        
        Rest assured, NettleWorth will only send you marketing emails when you ask for it. That being said, from time to time a product update email might go out or a measurement reminder email if you request one. 
        
        Also at any point you can change your subscription settings in your account profile page.

Why should I save my financial estimation measurements?

There are a few benefits to saving data to your account including;
        - gender or date of birth only needs to be entered once for each return visit
        - you can view growth (or decline) trends over time
        - you can compare against others in your demographics to see how you're tracking against them
        - it's 100% FREE to do so, and always will be
        
        But of course, you can always use the lookup service for free each time without having to log in.

Where does all your data come from?

Currently we only have US data and for that, it depends on the data type:
        - Net Worth data mostly uses the Survey of Consumer Finances (SCF) offered by the Federal Reserve
        - Retirement Fund data mostly comes from the Federal Reserve (Survey of Consumer Finances - SCF), the Department of Labor (DOL), and the IRS
        - Annual Income data comes mostly from the 
            - U.S. Census Bureau: The backbone of U.S. income data
            - Current Population Survey (CPS) & ASEC: The source for official poverty measures and widely cited national income figures
            - American Community Survey (ACS): Provides detailed income and demographic data for states, counties, and local areas, updated annually
            - Survey of Income and Program Participation (SIPP): Offers longitudinal (over time) income data

Our aim is to use fully sourced data as a starting point and for our community to reference their own personal circumstances against these sources. We anonymously record data from our users to feed back to the research community on request
